Laos - Luang Prabang - Where to sleep - The Apsara Hotel

The Apsara Hotel

Set in a series of grand properties fronting the Nam Khan river, The Apsara is a classy place to stay. The 13 rooms are all thoughtfully finished with Lao textiles and Cambodian apsaras (heavenly nymphs) feature extensively in the corridor art.

Once the Duang Champa, those days are long gone and The Apsara is now earning a loyal following for its comfort and style at an affordable price. It recently starred in Hip Hotels, the Thames & Hudson coffee-table guide to the world's coolest beds. The five superior rooms are a temptation, including signature four-poster beds, a sofa suite and a separate shower and bathtub. For those that crave even more privacy or exclusivity, The Apsara manages two Lao colombage villas known collectively as Villa Savanh. Traditional on the outside, they have been completely refurbished on the inside and include all mod cons. These are an interesting option for families or honeymoon couples who want something a little different. The Apsara is certainly that.
