Laos - Vientiane - Where to sleep -  Inter City Hotel

Inter City Hotel

The Inter City was treated to a marvelous make over a few years ago transforming the once anonymous accommodation into a 'des res' on the riverfront. The rooms are airy and bright with high ceilings, wooden floors and antique decoration.

First impressions are great, as the remodeled lobby looks like a Chinese antique shop, complete with ornate furnishings and priceless pieces. A lift was recently added, making access to upper floors a whole lot more convenient. Coming in several shapes and sizes, all the rooms include the minimum trim of air-con, satellite TV, fridge and hot water in the bathrooms. The beds are impressive and come in sleigh style or elaborate four-poster, with traditional Lao textiles featuring extensively. Attractive Lao cotton curtains are a marked improvement on the Chinese synthetics generally favoured in Laos and the region beyond. It is well worth investing extra for a riverfront room so you can wake up to the sight of the mighty Mekong.
